What is MEAD? MEAD is a backronym for "Macintosh-like Environment for Applications and Disks". The word was selected by the Macintosh Garden user Temporary Joe; the acronym was coined by myself. MEAD is an effort to: (1) reimplement the Macintosh Toolbox API from scratch (2) implement 68k and PPC emulators that utilize the MEAD libraries for seamless interaction (3) build (or extend an existing) operating system tuned and tooled for running a Macintosh-like environment under which new applications and old emulated applications could seamlessly coexist.
