I am looking forward to meeting each of you and participating in this course as a TA. Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I came to UNB from the United States in 2007 as a senior clinical instructor. I actually lived in the Maritimes as a teenager and went through the Saint John Regional Hospital program to earn my RN diploma. I received my undergraduate degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut and my graduate degree from Yale University. Throughout the years I worked in med/surg, ICU (medical, surgical and neuro ) and hospice. Upon my graduate degree, I worked in oncology as a nurse practitioner. As you can see, I have a well rounded experience! Currently, I teach Chronic Health Challenges in the undergrad program, assist with Advanced Patho and Roles and Issues, and work at the Community Health Clinic as an NP. My passion is nursing. I thrive in this field and firmly believe that nursing can satisfy one’s intellectual and emotional pursuits as few other careers can. I recently spent time in Malawi and Rwanda as an educator and find that there are countless global opportunities in this profession that change me as an individual as well as provide countless adventures. I hope that you will enjoy this semester and learn much that will contribute to your future success.
