This Concept Map, created with IHMC CmapTools, has information related to: CIC Project 1 Nov Virtual World, ???? Virtual Learning is coming to a school near you! In an effort for teachers to bridge the game between themselves and students, and to combat the impact of video games in developing children, teachers have turned to different programs to engages their charges. One such program that has experienced great success is Second Life Virtual World, which is a website very similar in set up to Sims or Virtual Villagers. Teachers construct parameters for the game for students to work within, meaning teachers dictate what the students can do within the application, blocking the students off from more risqué parts of the game and other inappropriate material. In doing this, the teachers have not only created a lesson in a structure familiar to the students, but also done so in a manner the students actually enjoy, making learning that much easier. The Second Life program is becoming increasingly popular in more and more schools. One making it a big part in their curriculum i s the Covenant Christian School Sydney., ???? The tools are there - is the will? The educational benefits of technology are widespread, with more and more parties welcoming change and the advantages it provides. Federal and state governments are putting more and more money into educational schemes with technology at the forefront, the most prominent example of this is the Labor governments scheme to put a laptop in the hands of every student, or at least a computer in every classroom. It’s become well known that in today’s society, a simple teacher-student relationship isn’t enough for pupils to understand content, more needs to be done using equipment and contexts that they’re familiar with, which is why technology has become such an integral part of education., ???? Technology meets Learner Preferences Technology has not only had a massive impact on how educational information is processed and analysed, but also how it is presented and understood to students. The rise in technology in school has had a substantial impact on the way students examine the curriculum being taught. Research has shown that more and more students are becoming visual learners, meaning they understand content better then they canactually see visual stimulus in front of them, when they can see the subject matter in front of them and use the displayed data in a theoretical framework.Things such as interactive whiteboards with internet access, or even stimuli thatthe teacher themselves (such as posters or placards) are all forms of technology that educators use to further enhance the educational experience for students., ???? It doesnt have to be complicated! Technological impact can be seen even in the most unusual of circumstances. Something as simple as taking a photo of a lecture slide or diagram so they can refer to it later can have a considerable effect on how students consume and analyse knowledge.
